Admittee vs Tandem: the master calendar, and what the events on it need.
Tandem is a school calendar: one place for every event, conflict checking before anything is booked, and approvals for the requests. Admittee keeps that same calendar. The difference starts once an event on it needs a ticket, a registration fee or a rental agreement.
Where Tandem shines
- A central master calendar with conflict checking across facilities, teams and groups
- Multi-step approval workflows for facility and event requests
- Email and SMS updates, and calendar links for parents and the community
- Transportation, work orders and equipment inventory on its top plan
- Published pricing: a free plan, then from $20 a month for up to five users
Where Admittee shines
- The same calendar, with conflict detection, request forms and approvals
- Rentals to outside groups with agreements, COI, invoicing and ACH
- Tickets, wallet passes, a scanned gate, reserved seating and concessions
- Registrations, and athletics game proposals signed by both schools
- $0 platform fee and nothing per user or per facility; a fee only when you collect a payment
Where Tandem is the better answer
If the calendar is the whole job. Tandem has been doing exactly this for a long time. Cascade Christian Schools has used it since 2007, and Albuquerque Public Schools publishes the athletic schedules for 13 high schools and 27 middle schools through it, with changes going out to coaches, officials and bus companies. If what you need is one trusted list of dates with nobody double-booking the gym, that is a problem Tandem solved years ago.
If you want transportation, work orders and equipment on the same plan. Tandem's Enterprise plan includes transportation, work orders and equipment inventory modules. Admittee does none of those, and a half-built version would be worse than a real one.
If nothing on the calendar is ever paid for. Tandem publishes its prices, which most of this category does not: a free plan with a single master calendar and three admins, then from $20 a month for up to five users. Admittee also costs nothing until a payment arrives, but if no payment ever arrives, most of what we built is beside the point.
Where the two stop overlapping
Both keep one calendar, check it for conflicts, and route requests for approval. Past that the question is what happens to an event once it is approved.
In Tandem, Friday's game is an entry on the calendar. Tandem's site does not mention ticketing, registrations or payments, so selling the tickets, scanning them at the gate and ringing up the concession stand happen in other systems. In Admittee the game is the record the tickets, the gate and the concessions hang off, so the night's report comes from the same place the date did.
Rentals. Tandem's Enterprise plan lists a Facility Rental module, and its site describes outside groups requesting a space and a manager approving it. Its public pages do not describe rental agreements, insurance certificates, or how the renter pays. Admittee's rentals carry an agreement, COI upload and expiration tracking, and an invoice paid by card or ACH.
Pricing. Tandem is priced by users, starting at five. Admittee charges nothing per user, per facility or per calendar; the fee arrives only with a payment. A school where a hundred coaches and club sponsors need to request a room will feel that difference. A school with three people who touch the calendar will not.

How schools land here
Usually a school where Tandem already holds the dates, and the events on it have started needing more than a date: the gym is rented to a club on Saturdays, the spring musical sells reserved seats, and athletics is signing contracts with other schools. Each of those ends up in its own system, and the master calendar stops being the whole story.
One that did it. Foundation Academy retired five systems into Admittee, and Tandem Calendar was one of them, alongside Google Calendar for dates, TicketLeap and GoFan for tickets, and Planning Center for the church side. Their CIO's account is about the five not agreeing with each other rather than about any one of them: scheduling meant cross-referencing all of them and hoping nobody booked over somebody's setup window. Read the case study.
Double booking is virtually eliminated. Multiple organizations and all their departments are booking through one point of truth.
Common questions
Can we run both?
For a season, yes. Most schools move the internal calendar first and leave everything else where it is until a natural break. As a permanent arrangement it costs you the thing a master calendar exists for: the gym lives in two places, and the conflict between them is found by a person.
Is Admittee cheaper?
Not if nothing on your calendar is paid for. Tandem has a free plan and paid plans from $20 a month for five users. Admittee has no platform fee and charges nothing per user or per facility; the fee arrives only with a payment, 5% + $0.75 on a ticket, registration or rental invoice. If your events do collect money, compare against what you pay the ticketing, registration and rental tools beside Tandem today.
Does Admittee do transportation or work orders?
No, and we have no plans to. Tandem's Enterprise plan has transportation, work orders and equipment inventory modules. If those are why you chose it, that is a real reason to stay.
What happens to the calendar links parents already subscribe to?
Admittee publishes every calendar, facility and filtered athletics schedule as an iCal feed, and a public calendar you can embed on your website. Families subscribe once more, to the new feed; there are no fan or parent accounts to move.
